I am working now on my "masterpieces" for the "sebastianism revisited" series...where I renegotiate the myth and life of Sebastian I of Portugal. I reserve the right, as an artist, to take the myth and the official accepted histories and "reinvest" them, giving them creative, subjective, lyric and heroic interpretations...enabling them as stimuli to a new path for my painting. It is my wish to invest Sebastian with a heart and a head, I often get the impression when mentioning him to my friends here in Portugal, that they only know the abbreviated myth and underestimate his personality and the effect that his early childhood had on is life...
